Abstract

Red chili is the vegetable with high economic value, red chili is the commodity priority in the agricultural sector, especially in North Tapanuli. This study aims to determine the effect of cutting shoots and the adding of charcoal husk to increase the yield of red chili. This research was carried out at the Sisingamngaraja University estate, from August 2021 to February 2022. This research method used a Randomized Block Design with two factorials, namely the media factor and the shoot cutting factor. Parameters observed in this study were plant height, diameter, first flowering of plant, productive branches, number of fruit per plot, and fruit weight per plot. The results showed that the treatment of cutting shoots and adding rice husk charcoal could increase the growth and yield of red chili plants. The best treatment was cutting shoots at 20 days after planting and giving 500 grams of husk charcoal.
